Gai Parada+++ Photo © Gainey Arabians Gai Parada's pedigree is almost a prototype of the Gainey breeding program -- concentrating the Skowronek type through crossing the *Raffles and *Raseyn lines. Ferzon, his sire, is a double grandson of *Raseyn. Azleta, his dam, is a double granddaughter of *Raffles (via Azraff on top) in addition to another line to *Raffles, plus another to the Skowronek daughter *Rifala. So the crosses to Skowronek in Gai Parada's pedigree add up quickly. The dam of Azraff was *Azja IV, a mare imported from Poland by Henry Babson, adding to the Polish content of the pedigree contributed by the Polish-bred Skowronek.

Gai Parada+++ and his sire, Ferzon Photo © Gainey Arabians Ferzon is considered one of Frank McCoy's major breeding triumphs. He bred his best mare Fersara (by Ferseyn) to the Ferseyn son Ferneyn to produce Ferzon, a colt Daniel C. Gainey purchased as a yearling to be his future herd sire. Ferzon acheived more than Mr. Gainey may ever have hoped for him. Jimmy Dean described Gai Parada's dam Azleta as "a keepsake mare," one who could only be bought by his good friend Daniel C. Gainey, which he did soon after Gai Parada was foaled. Jimmy bred Phleta, Gai Parada's granddam, and considered her "just about perfect."

Gai Parada lived out his life as king of the ranch in Santa Ynez and passed away in 1993 at 24 years of age.
